Tennis Elbow Treatment in Alexandria, LA

You don't need to play tennis to get it. The sharp, lingering pain on the outside of your elbow when you grip, lift, or shake hands is usually lateral epicondylitis. We treat it with Shockwave (RPW), dry needling, and targeted rehab — without injections or surgery.

What Tennis Elbow Really Is

Lateral epicondylitis is a degenerative tendon issue at the outside of the elbow — the common attachment point for the muscles that extend the wrist. Repetitive gripping, twisting, computer work, plumbing, electrical work, and yes, racquet sports gradually break down the tendon faster than the body rebuilds it.

The frustrating part: rest helps a little, but it doesn't restore tendon quality. That's why people get rid of it for a few weeks, then it comes right back the moment they grip a wrench or pick up a child.

Common Symptoms We See

  • Pain on the outside of the elbow
  • Pain when gripping, lifting, or shaking hands
  • Weak grip strength on the affected side
  • Tenderness on the bony bump on the outside of the elbow
  • Pain when extending the wrist or middle finger against resistance
  • Stiffness in the elbow in the morning
  • Symptoms lasting more than a few weeks
  • Pain that radiates down the forearm toward the wrist

Shockwave + Dry Needling + Rehab

We're currently the only practice in Central Louisiana running the Chattanooga Intelect RPW 2 Radial Pressure Wave Therapy system. For tendinopathies like tennis elbow, RPW drives mechanical waves into the damaged tendon — re-stimulating blood flow and the body's own repair cascade. 10–15 minute sessions, no downtime; most patients notice change after 3–6 visits. Individual results vary.

We pair Shockwave with dry needling for the wrist-extensor and forearm trigger points, chiropractic adjustments for the elbow, wrist, and cervical-thoracic spine where the nerves originate, and a load-tolerance rehab plan that gradually rebuilds tendon capacity so the symptom doesn't come back when you go back to work.
