Joint pain can limit joint mobility, range of motion, strength, stability, and overall function of a patient. At Mayfield Advanced Chiropractic, one component of our approach to joint pain is joint injections. There is a spectrum of what can be injected into a joint from a pain relieving medication (such as Sarapin ropivicaine or others), to supplemental joint lubricating fluid (such as hyaluronate, known as viscosupplementation). Besides helping to decrease pain and improve the lubrication of a joint, injecting into a joint allows for expansion of the joint capsule (the ligamentous bag that encompasses the joint), which produces increased range of motion and decreased pain.
